Get matched with a licensed proConcrete in Torrance needs correct mix, placement and cure — not just a truck and forms. Slab curl, surface crazing and early cracking usually trace to timing or subgrade prep, not bad luck.
Structural concrete is not the same as a broom-finish patio. Reinforcement, cover and consolidation requirements differ. Ask whether the contractor uses a vibrator on footings and walls.
Vapor barriers under interior slabs need sealed seams before pour. A photo of the barrier before concrete arrives is cheap insurance against moisture claims later.
Class C-8 (Concrete) is the concrete classification — CSLB authorizes forming, placing and finishing concrete. Structural work may require engineered drawings submitted to Building and Safety Division. Fiber mesh is not a substitute for rebar in structural footings, and the mix design should match the engineer specification.
Contractors listed hold an active Class C-8 (Concrete) licence at a Torrance address. Verify licence status before deposits on large pours. Integral color in concrete is consistent only when batched from the same plant load, and small pours may show batch variation. Keep vehicles off green concrete for the full cure window because edge breakoff is common when rushed.
Licence status does not reveal whether a crew waits for bleed water to leave before finishing. Hot weather pours need a written plan. Saw-cut joints should be deep enough to weaken the plane, typically one-quarter of slab thickness, or random cracks will appear anyway.
Hot weather pours may need retarding admixtures and mist curing. A summer pour without a heat plan is more likely to craze and dust at the surface. Payment should track inspection milestones in Torrance, not calendar dates alone, so you can verify concrete progress before each draw.
