Elevator Contractors by city
Elevator work in California is a narrow field with long lead times. Residential lifts, commercial modernizations and accessibility retrofits each have different code paths, and the manufacturer often dictates which contractors may install their equipment.
Expect the process to start with a site survey, not a quote over the phone. Shaft dimensions, pit depth, overhead clearance and electrical supply all have to be verified before an order is placed. Changing any of those after the cab is built is costly.
Residential lifts in multi-storey homes need overhead clearance measured from finished floor levels on every landing. A measurement taken before drywall is complete avoids discovering a short shaft at installation week.

Get matched with a licensed proClass C-11 (Elevator) covers the installation, repair and maintenance of elevators, dumbwaiters and related conveying equipment. CSLB limits this work to contractors who hold the specialty classification — it is not part of general building. Ask whether the contractor carries the manufacturer authorization for the line you selected, because warranty registration often requires an authorized installer.
Contractors listed here hold an active Class C-11 (Elevator) licence at a California address, with the number linked to the register. Elevator work also falls under state inspection programs beyond the CSLB, so ask who schedules those inspections.
The register does not record how many residential lifts a firm has installed. Ask for two recent projects with similar travel height and capacity, and speak to the owner about schedule and inspection delays.
Modernization projects in occupied buildings need phasing that keeps at least one car running where two exist. Ask for a hour-by-hour shutdown plan before accepting a lump-sum price.

Licence first. References second. Reviews last. Why that order.
Get matched with a licensed proInstallation and repair of conveying equipment requires Class C-11 (Elevator). General building contractors do not hold this scope unless they also carry the elevator classification on their licence.
The register lists 0 with an active Class C-11 (Elevator) licence at a California address. The pool is smaller than most trades because the classification is specialized.
Building permits through the building department with jurisdiction over your address and state elevator division inspections both apply. The contractor should name both paths in the schedule before you sign.
Manufacturing lead time often exceeds on-site work. Ask for a schedule that separates shop fabrication from installation and inspection, because the gap between them is where most delays happen.
Shaft design must keep conveying equipment separate from unrelated systems. The elevator contractor should coordinate with the architect before structural openings are cut.
