Framing & Carpentry Contractors by city
Framing in California sets every dimension the finish trades inherit. Out-of-square walls mean tapered baseboards and doors that never latch right. Rough carpentry is the geometry of the house.
Engineered lumber and shear walls changed residential framing. Ask whether the crew follows the structural plans for hold-downs and nailing schedules — inspectors check those, not just whether studs are vertical.
Hold-down bolts have torque and embed requirements that are easy to miss at shear walls. Ask the framer how they document hold-down installation before sheathing covers the hardware.

Finish carpentry and cabinets are Class C-6. Window and door rough openings should be checked against the actual units delivered, because nominal sizes do not match frame dimensions.
Framers listed hold an active Class C-5 (Framing and Rough Carpentry) licence at a California address. Framing inspections route through the building department with jurisdiction over your address at prescribed stages. Fire blocking at soffits and chases is an inspection item that is faster to install during framing than after drywall. Walk the frame with the plumber before sheathing because moving a stud later costs more than a meeting.
The register does not show whether a crew reads engineered plans or copies from habit. Ask how they handle plan revisions during framing. Tall walls may need let-in bracing or engineered shear panels, and the framer should follow the shear schedule sheet on site.
Engineered lumber cannot be field-notched like dimensional studs. Ask the framer to confirm every penetration follows the manufacturer literature before holes are cut.
