Get matched with a licensed proLandscaping in Altadena blends horticulture with civil work — irrigation, grading, drainage and hardscape are often one contract. Planting without addressing how water moves across the lot is how lawns drown and foundations get wet.
Drought-tolerant design still needs irrigation zoning and soil amendment. Ask whether the contractor licenses drawings for permit when retaining walls or drainage structures are included.
Tree planting near foundations needs species selection with mature root spread in mind. A landscaper should flag trees that will outgrow the planting strip beside the house.
Class C-27 (Landscaping) is the landscaping contractor classification — CSLB authorizes construction of landscape systems including irrigation and certain hardscape elements within defined limits. Hardscape drainage behind retaining walls needs outlet paths that do not dump toward the neighbor property line.
Contractors here hold an active Class C-27 (Landscaping) licence at a Altadena address. Walls over height limits or near slopes may need engineering and LA County Building and Safety review even when a landscaper installs them. Root barriers between trees and hardscape reduce lifted pavers, and they should be specified when planting large species near walks. Define a thirty-day plant replacement window in writing because summer heat kills unestablished stock quickly.
A licence does not mean someone groups plants by water need. Ask for a irrigation schedule matched to plant zones on the plan. Drip irrigation filters need seasonal cleaning, and the landscaper should show you where filters and valves are buried.
Irrigation clocks should be programmed by zone water need, not one run time for every valve. A handover walkthrough should show you how to adjust seasonal schedules. Payment should track inspection milestones in Altadena, not calendar dates alone, so you can verify landscaping progress before each draw. Licence first. References second. Reviews last. Why that order.
Get matched with a licensed proLandscape construction as a business requires Class C-27 (Landscaping). Pure gardening maintenance without construction may fall outside CSLB scope.
The register shows 7 with an active Class C-27 (Landscaping) licence at a Altadena address, and 1,611 across Los Angeles County.
Retaining walls, large grading and some drainage work need permits through LA County Building and Safety. Planting alone often does not — scope decides.
Bundling is common, but the warranty terms for plants and for irrigation controllers should both be in writing.
Seasonal planting windows affect survival rates. A landscaper should schedule species by water and heat tolerance, not only nursery availability.
