Refrigeration in Burbank, CA — CSLB-Licensed Contractors

What to Expect from Refrigeration in Burbank

Refrigeration in Burbank serves walk-in coolers, commercial kitchens and industrial plants — not the same as residential HVAC even when both use refrigerant. EPA certification for handling refrigerants is separate from the state licence.

Equipment selection ties to electrical service and ventilation. A contractor who sizes only the box, not the heat rejection path, creates short cycling and high power bills.

Walk-in panels ship knocked down and need square rooms. Measure diagonals before ordering — out-of-square walls produce gasket gaps that frost the floor.

• Commercial cooler and freezer installation
• Refrigerated case and line sets
• Compressor rack and condenser placement
• Refrigerant recovery and charging
• Temperature monitoring and controls
• Startup commissioning and documentation
• Refrigerant log at startup
• Emergency shutdown labeling on panels
• Temperature log procedure for commercial owners

Why CSLB Licensing Matters

Class C-38 (Refrigeration) is refrigeration — CSLB authorizes installation and repair of refrigeration systems. Residential air conditioning is usually Class C-20 unless the scope is commercial refrigeration equipment. Remote condensers on rooftops need structural and electrical coordination that is easy to forget on small commercial jobs.

Contractors hold an active Class C-38 (Refrigeration) licence at a Burbank address. Commercial installs often need mechanical permits through Burbank Water & Power. Condensate drains from coolers must route to an approved receptor, not across a walkway where ice can form. Log case temperatures for a week after startup because commissioning proves performance before product goes in.

The register does not record EPA Section 608 credentials. Ask for technician certification before anyone vents refrigerant. Defrost cycles on walk-in evaporators must be programmed for the product load, or ice builds on coils and warm spots appear.

Night covers on open display cases save energy in grocery retrofits. Ask whether operating cost estimates include covers and anti-sweat heaters. Payment should track inspection milestones in Burbank, not calendar dates alone, so you can verify refrigeration progress before each draw.
