Get matched with a licensed proRoofing in Granada Hills is weatherproofing, not shingles alone. Underlayment, flashing at walls and crickets behind chimneys are where leaks start. A low bid that specifies laminate shingles but not ice-and-water shield at valleys is missing scope.
Re-roofing over existing layers is sometimes allowed locally and sometimes not. Ask whether the contractor will open the deck to inspect sheathing before committing to overlay.
Tile roofs need batten layout matched to exposure wind zones. Ask whether the roofer follows manufacturer tables for your wind category, not a generic batten spacing.
Class C-39 (Roofing) is the roofing classification — CSLB authorizes installation and repair of roof coverings and related sheet metal at the roof plane. Deck repair discovered at tear-off should be priced as a change order with unit rates agreed in advance, not argued on the roof.
Roofers listed hold an active Class C-39 (Roofing) licence at a Granada Hills address. Re-roofs in Granada Hills typically require permits through LADBS, especially when structural decking is replaced. Ice barrier membrane at eaves is required in some climate zones even when the homeowner only asked for shingles. Photograph underlayment before shingles cover it because warranty disputes need evidence of proper installation.
Licence status does not reveal whether a crew replaces step flashing at walls. Ask for photos at chimney and wall intersections from a recent job. Counter-flashing into masonry chimneys needs reglets cut into mortar, and step flashing alone without counter is a common leak path.
Skylight replacements during re-roof are cheaper while the area is open. Decide on skylight units before the roofer orders underlayment, not after shingles arrive. Payment should track inspection milestones in Granada Hills, not calendar dates alone, so you can verify roofing progress before each draw.
