Get matched with a licensed proStructural steel in Burbank carries loads that wood cannot — moment frames, wide-flange beams and heavy connectors. Field welding must match shop certifications, and bolt torque matters as much as weld beads.
Residential steel is often overlooked until a large opening is needed. Ask whether the contractor provides engineering or expects stamped drawings from your architect.
Fireproofing may be required on steel in certain occupancies even in residential mixed-use. Ask early if intumescent or spray fireproofing is in the structural spec.
Class C-51 (Structural Steel) is structural steel — CSLB authorizes erection of structural steel frames and related work. Ornamental metal is Class C-23. Shop primer is not the same as finished paint, and field touch-up systems should be specified for exterior steel.
