Get matched with a licensed proFlooring is the trade where preparation decides the result. A floor laid over an uneven or damp subfloor will telegraph every flaw underneath it within a year, whichever material sits on top. Levelling, moisture testing and choosing the right underlayment are the parts of the quote worth reading closely.
Different materials fail differently. Vinyl plank is forgiving of moisture but shows every ridge in the subfloor; tile needs a rigid base or it cracks at the grout; carpet hides unevenness and shows damp. Tell the contractor how the room is used and what is underneath it, and let those drive the material choice rather than the other way round.
CSLB defines Class C-15 (Flooring and Floor Covering) as preparing surfaces for and installing floor coverings — carpet, resilient sheet and tile goods, and wood floors. It is a specialty classification covering the flooring trade specifically.
The contractors here hold an active licence in that classification at a Diamond Bar address, with the number linked to the register. If your project also involves moving walls or plumbing, that work sits outside this classification and needs a general or remodeling contractor as well.
The register also says nothing about the part of the quote that decides the outcome: how much preparation is included. Two quotes can differ by thousands and both be honest, because one has priced levelling the subfloor and the other has assumed it is flat. Ask what each has allowed for preparation and what happens if the floor needs more — a written allowance with a stated rate for extra work beats a lower number with nothing behind it. Ask whether removal and disposal of the old floor is in the price, because it is frequently excluded and it is not a small line. And ask when the room can be walked on and furnished; that is not the same day for every material.

Get matched with a licensed proThese sit under the same Class C-15 (Flooring and Floor Covering) licence, so the same contractors are qualified for them.
CSLB defines it as preparing surfaces for and installing floor coverings, including carpet, resilient goods and wood floors. It is the flooring specialty classification, distinct from general building work.
The register lists 6 with an active C-15 licence at a Diamond Bar address, and 1,177 across Los Angeles County. Installation, repair and refinishing share the classification, so those pages list the same contractors.
Sometimes, and sometimes a new floor can go over the old one. It depends on height at doorways, the condition underneath, and whether moisture is trapped between the layers. Ask which the contractor is proposing and why.
No. There are no ratings on this site and no paid ordering on this page. What you see is the CSLB register: who holds an active licence in this classification at a Diamond Bar address, with a link so you can check each one yourself.
Cosmetic resurfacing often does not, but subfloor structural work or abatement may. Confirm with Building and Safety Division when demolition is part of the job.
