Get matched with a licensed proMost wood floor failures in Diamond Bar homes are moisture failures, and they are decided before a single board is laid. Wood arrives at one moisture content and your house sits at another; installing before those meet is what produces the gaps in winter and the cupping in summer that people blame on the boards.
Ask any installer how long they acclimate material on site and whether they test subfloor moisture. A specific answer — days, and a meter reading — is a good sign. Ask too about the subfloor itself: over a concrete slab you need a moisture barrier and usually a different fixing method than over a joisted floor.
Flooring installation sits under Class C-15 (Flooring and Floor Covering), which CSLB defines as preparing surfaces for and installing floor coverings — carpet, resilient goods and wood floors among them. It is a specialty classification, so it covers the flooring itself rather than the trades around it.
Each contractor here holds an active licence in that classification at a Diamond Bar address, with the number linked to the CSLB record. If your project also moves plumbing or walls, that is outside this classification and needs a general or remodeling contractor alongside.
The register also has nothing to say about the two things that decide whether a wood floor lasts: patience before installation, and honesty about the subfloor. An installer under schedule pressure will lay boards that have not acclimated, and the result looks perfect at handover and wrong by the following summer. Ask what moisture readings they took and what they consider acceptable for your subfloor type — a number and a method is the answer you want. Ask what happens if the readings come back too high; a contractor whose answer is that they would wait is worth more than one who has never had to. Ask as well who will actually be on your floor, since installation crews are often subcontracted.

Yes, with a moisture barrier and an appropriate fixing method — commonly glue-down or floating rather than nail-down. Ask the installer to test slab moisture first and tell you the reading, not just that it was fine.
No. It records that the contractor is permitted to do this work in California. For workmanship, ask for three recent installations you can call about, and if you can, go and look at a floor they laid two or three years ago rather than last month.
Installations over an existing subfloor often do not, but structural prep or asbestos-era removal may. Confirm with Building and Safety Division before materials are ordered.
